Apologies for my absence. New foodie post coming very soon. In the meantime, I've been getting ready for my stand at the Battersea Decorative Antiques Fair, which starts next Tuesday and runs to the 5th October. Many Greasy Spooners will know by now that in my other life I live a slightly precarious existence dealing in quirky antiques. Oh the Long Suffering Mrs Aitch!
Slightly different theme this time, with a hint of Victorian London: chocolate brown walls, Victorian Magic, Fairground and Circus Posters, glittering antique Witch Balls, a huge 1908 map of the London Underground, mechanical games in tinplate, furniture from the Festival of Britain, a fabulous 19th century German Toy Theatre and, of course, the usual stock of backgammon boards, chess and gambling antiques.
And, last but not least, Josephine the Pig will be making a star appearance. She's German, and dates from the 1930's. From a children's carousel or merry-go-round. Would have given hundreds- if not thousands- of children many many hours of happy entertainment.
If anybody wants free tickets to the fair, please Email Me and I would be delighted to send you an e-ticket, which you will need to print out to get entry. Will save you fifteen golden nuggets, so not to be sniffed at. Stand 59
